Charlie Speed originally from Montreal, Canada where he worked in the aerospace and construction industries providing Q/A and nondestructive testing (NDT) services as a Senior Technician certified in RT, UT, MT and PT. He earned a BS in Materials Engineering from Auburn University and a MBA from William Carey University. Charlie is currently attending the University of New Orleans in a Masters of Mechanical Engineering Program where he assists in teaching the Corrosion Engineering Undergraduate and Graduate course.
Charlie provides materials and corrosion, inspection, chemical and coatings engineering technical support & stewardship to numerous organizations. Prior to this Charlie worked for W&T Offshore as their Inspection/Integrity Engineer. As an independent consultant for numerous major oil companies including Shell as a Chemical Engineer for almost 10 years. Before Shell, Charlie was employed for 15 years by Exxon and 5 years by Mobil in Gulf of Mexico Area Operations. His active memberships in materials, inspection and corrosion professional societies including API, ASM, ASNT, SPE and NACE allowed him opportunities to offer leadership in education and certification. Charlie is bilingual, speaking English and French. He has two children, Katie a LSU graduate, and David a graduate of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary serving as lead Hispanic pastor of Celebration Church.
