Bridge

The Bridge Technical Community of Interest is a group of professionals (both AMPP members and nonmembers) that will include, owners, manufacturers, consultants, contractors and others who have come together to share and discuss issues affecting the bridge industry and new and emerging technology. Through the shared knowledge of this diverse group, both geographically and from varying viewpoints, information can be discussed about current issues for both the design phase and construction phase. This can include the selection of containment to surface preparation and materials, abrasives, coatings, solvents, etc. during the design phase and issues during the actual construction phase with the contractor’s submittals, means and methods. The sharing of knowledge on how to deal with structural issues that could be detrimental to the life of the newly applied system can be discussed along with new and emerging technologies and how they can be incorporated into bridge coatings to streamline those processes and possibly lower the overall costs.

This can include the proper selection of materials during the design phase and contract specification development for the construction phase. The sharing of knowledge on how to deal with those issues and new technologies to protect those concrete structures with the newly applied coating system can be discussed and how they can be incorporated to streamline those processes and possibly lower the overall costs.

As we are transitioning to hydrogen and hydrogen natural gas blends, considering that these technologies are not yet matured, there is a need to create a TCI that can identify and address challenges with the this industry. This TCI will provide a forum where the broad scope of the technical committees focuses on hydrogen specific issues. The TCI will monitor and asses hydrogen developments that are relevant to the AMPP community. Description:

The Membership Program Committee (MPC) is establishing 3 task forces to help assist in the merge of NACE Sections and SSPC Chapters into new AMPP Chapters where we have more than two existing groups which overlap.

Task Forces:

US Task Force for Chapters (Gulf Coast region)
West Asia and Africa Task Force for Chapters
China Task Force for Chapters

Each task force will work to help determine how best to merge overlapping Sections and Chapters into new AMPP Chapters, including determining geographic boundaries for these groups. The task forces are responsible for bringing recommendations back to the MPC for final approval.

The task force should have recommendations prepared for the MPC by January 1, 2022 and will meet virtually as needed to meet the deadline.

Each task force will have a Chair to help lead meetings. Regional staff will also help support these task forces and provide knowledge needed to make decisions.
Qualifications:
Experience working with NACE Sections or SSPC Chapters previously is preferred, although not required.
Total Time Commitment: 10-15 hours.
