T.J. Hull Award

The T.J. Hull Award is given in recognition of an outstanding contribution to NACE in the field of publications. The contribution must, in some manner, have contributed significantly to furthering the aims and objectives of NACE in the field of publication and dissemination of corrosion information in an effective and timely manner.

A maximum of one award may be given in any year. The recipient will receive an inscribed award and an honorarium of $1,000.

Nominee Eligibility

  • The nominee must be a current member of NACE in good standing.
  • No posthumous nominations will be accepted.
  • Past presidents are eligible for this award only for accomplishments following their presidency and only after 5 years’ time has lapsed since their presidency.
  • Past recipients of this award are not eligible to receive this award again.

Richard B. Eckert

2019 Recipient(s): Richard B. Eckert

Eckert holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Metallurgy from Western Michigan University located in Kalamazoo, MI. He specializes in the following areas of corrosion; Internal corrosion of oil and gas assets; microbiologically influenced corrosion assessment and mitigation; corrosion control and corrosion management program development; failure analysis and root cause analysis; materials selection for corrosive conditions; development of corrosion training; and laboratory corrosion testing. With over 40 publications on internal corrosion and MIC; 3 NACE book titles on internal corrosion management; Author of chapters in several other books on MIC. Eckert is also a member of various organizations such as NACE, SPE, ASM; holding the following positions on their committees Past Chair, NACE Education Activities Committee; NACE Board of Directors - PAC; Past Chair, NACE Publications Activities Committee Vice-Chair and Books Chair; Chair, NACE TG254 “Detection, Testing, and Evaluation of Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) on Internal Surfaces of Pipelines”; Chair, TG 390, TG370, TG564; NACE Institute Certification Commission.

He is currently Senior Principal Specialist, Corrosion Management, in Dublin, OH.
