IMPACT PLUS Qualified Navigator

This qualification is designed for experienced corrosion management professionals wishing to further their skills related to asset protection through corrosion management for their respective company and/or customer. Navigators should possess the corrosion management expertise and consulting skills needed to advise organizations on their present and future asset protection/corrosion management strategies.

A successful Qualified Navigator candidate will ensure the complete and successful use of the IMPACT PLUS platform for their companies and or customers. Specifically, they will:

  • Provide step-by-step consultation throughout the tool’s assessment process ensuring results yield high integrity data and will aid organizations in strategic decisions
  • Evaluate and compare an organization’s current asset management strategies; coordinate personnel at various levels in the organization to facilitate alignment or identify gaps in corrosion management knowledge and/or approaches
  • Interpret and analyze assessment and advise organizations where to make corrosion management plan investments
  • Recommend best strategies for moving corrosion management to the next level

Steps to Qualification

  1. Work experience and education requirements

    A minimum of a BA/BS degree

    Minimum of 5 years of business to business sales experience with large, international, or matrixed organizations and a proven track record of successfully building relations to develop business. Industry experience required in at least one of the following: Utilities, Energy, Transportation, Marine or Infrastructure.

  2. Course requirements and suggestions

    IMPACT PLUS Navigator training provides role-playing scenarios, management strategies, and details on how to maximize IMPACT PLUS’s network of tools to improve your organization’s or customer’s business processes and corrosion management performance.

    Candidates must successfully complete both requirements below:

    IMPACT Plus: Strategy for Corrosion Management (2 hour eCourse)

    IMPACT Plus: Navigator Training (2 Day Classroom or Virtual Course)

  3. Core training requirements

    The multiple-choice CBT exam is scheduled separately from the course and delivered via Pearson VUE.

    An authorization to test email will be sent to the candidate at the completion of the Navigator Qualification Course. The CBT exam fee is not included in the initial course registration.

  4. Certification and application requirements

    All candidates are required to complete an application. The application consists of candidate information, Attestation, Code of Ethics, and Affidavit. All must be submitted with work experience and CV/Resume. There is a non-refundable application fee.

  5. Pre-assessment video and interview requirements

    All candidates are required to submit a video presentation as part of the application process. After the application and video have been received and reviewed, successful candidates will be scheduled for an interview with a review board.

Renewal requirements

To maintain active status:

An approved requalification application and non-refundable application fee is required every 3 years.

An IMPACT PLUS Qualified Navigator must complete at least two (2) audits in a three (3) year period.

NOTE: The NACE Institute reserves the right to return any incomplete applications or those that do not meet the requirements. All application fees are non-refundable. To avoid processing delays or forfeiture of fees, please ensure that the application is complete, meets all the requirements and payment has been received.
