Description:

NACE is looking for volunteers who will walk interested parties through a “mini” version of an inspection site. Volunteers will explain what each station does and help the interested party perform tests on an ASTM panel, located in the middle of the Coatings Experience floor. The ASTM panel will be separated into the following sections:

  • Blasted with an anchor profile of 2-4 mils
  • Corroded
  • Coated – 4-6 mils

The three stations that make up the exhibit and that volunteers will be expected to instruct on are as follows:

1. Initial Inspection Station: Here the participant has the opportunity to go through a spec sheet and fill out an inspection form as they perform bresle patch and chlor tests on the ASTM panel and initial rust grade using the SSPC-Vis 1 and/or 3.

2. Surface Preparation and Pre-Coating Station: This station allows the participants to utilize an anvil micrometer, profilometer, psychometric tables, and replica tapes (Course and X-Course) while performing tests on the ASTM panel.

3. The last station is the Final Inspection: This station allows the students to utilize a DFT gauge and low voltage wet sponge holiday detector.
