NACE International is seeking articles on lessons learned and case studies associated with corrosion in the maritime industry and may be considered for publication. Articles may relate to port facilities & infrastructure, vessels, navy fleets, navigational aids, shipyards, dry docks, movable bridges and associated equipment, or any other asset that touches a body of water. Of particular interest are examples involving corrosion management strategies; i.e. the evaluation of life-cycle return on investment as it relates to the selection of corrosion prevention methodologies (i.e. coatings specifications). While company names can be omitted, it is important to indicate type of facility, industry, environment, and other details critical for understanding the case at hand.

Members that are aware of the relevant example or lesson learned but do not have enough involvement with the case to prepare an article are encourages to submit as much detail regarding the example for future evaluation and engagement by NACE staff.

Members from the maritime industry in general, such as owners, operators, service companies and fabricators are welcome to volunteer their case studies and/or lessons learned.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • to contribute one or more papers associated with their experience with corrosion in the maritime industry.
  • Articles should highlight the corrosion issue, location, corrosion prevention and control practices, operational impact, damages and costs involved, key environmental conditions, resolution of he problem, main conclusion and recommendations as well as implementation of any new technology, best practice and any other experience that my be of interest to the corrosion community.
  • Articles should be preferably in English.


Any volunteer engaged in this effort is encouraged to coordinate with the NACE Chief Maritime Officer (CMO) for questions and guidance in framing the article. Likewise, completed articles with author name and contact information should be delivered to the CMO at the email address listed in the contact area.
