Reopening Protocols for Students

Education Protocols for Students in Face to Face Classes

Travel Guidelines

All participants are responsible for compliance with local, state, and country guidelines when traveling to and from course locations. NACE is not responsible for your travel, including but not limited to costs, visas, passports, health screenings, social distancing and quarantine regulations.

Guidelines and provision of face masks/gloves

Instructors and students may be required to wear a face covering when entering, exiting and moving throughout the building. In certain locations due to local guidelines and requirements students may be required to wear a face covering the entire time including during class.

We highly encourage students to bring your own mask/covering in the event that requirements change. Masks and gloves will be available onsite.

Guidelines for Participants Those who become ill before or during class are advised not to attend. Please contact FirstService, instructors, or NACE staff. In select locations participant’s temperatures may be taken prior to entering building or in the event a participant appears to be ill. Any participant appearing to be ill will be asked to leave immediately.
Social Distancing Required and Enforced NACE Staff, Instructors and fellow students are asked to follow all social distancing guidelines.
Hand sanitizer stations and bottles for students/instructors Hand sanitizer will be available onsite.
Refreshments, limiting refreshment area traffic Each classroom at the Houston Training Center will be fully stocked with food and beverages to limit the number of people in the kitchen areas. Coffee, water, and ice will still be available in the kitchen areas; however, we will implement a one-in/one-out system.
Cleaning of practical equipment and classroom surfaces We have changed the procedures for practical workstations and exams in classes to minimize handling of equipment. Students will be given gloves to wear while handling classroom equipment. Classroom surfaces will be wiped down daily and where possible additional wipes will be available for use in classroom during the day.
Social Distancing in lobby and common areas at Elcometer Training Center in Houston Start times and end times for classes will be staggered, as well as breaks and lunches to reduce exposure in common areas. The computer station has been removed. Students will be directed to register for exams online or call Pearson at 800-655-9469. Hours for Pearson are M-F, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. CST.
Social distancing in classrooms We have spread out the classrooms and have limited class sizes to encourage social distancing. Where social distancing is not feasible, measures such as face covering, hand hygiene, cough etiquette, cleanliness, and sanitation should be rigorously practiced.
Coatings Lab & PPE Our coatings lab processes have been amended so students will be observers of the blast/spray stations. Students will still receive a panel and complete all other stations during lab day.
