Record Attendance at Corrosion
Technology
Week 2007
Corrosion Technology Week 2007, sponsored by the Technical Coordination
Committee (TCC) of NACE International, attracted its largest attendance
ever with 632 registrants.
NACE International's home city, Houston, Texas, played host to a
work week filled with technical committee meetings, networking, and
special events including an opening reception and the Rap & Rye
event. Here are just a few of the many highlights from the annual
work week for the technical committees:
TG 370, Pipeline Corrosion
Management, is working on a new corrosion management standard for
pipelines.
TEG 367X, Pipeline
Industry: Corrosion Awareness, discussed approaches for leveraging
information in the Cost
of Corrosion Study in ways that reach new audiences.
TG 315, Pipelines
(Liquid Petroleum): Internal Corrosion--Direct Assessment, put the
finishing touches on their draft standard, which is now ready to
go out for ballot.
TG 360, Piping Systems:
Review of SP0169-2007 (formerly RP0169), ìControl of External
Corrosion on Underground or Submerged Metallic Piping Systems,î conducted
a full-day meeting where they discussed changes that are being considered
for NACE SP0169 (formerly RP0169).
STG 34, Petroleum
Refining and Gas Processing, worked with the American Petroleum
Institute (API) Subcommittee on Corrosion and Materials to schedule
task group meetings for STG 34 and API so that members of both groups
could attend appropriate meetings.
TEG 205X, Refining
Industry Information Exchange, had a daylong information exchange.
Later in the day they combined with TEG 207X--Corrosion in Gas Treatment.
This meeting is instrumental in producing new REFIN*COR material.
TEG 206X conducted
two Refining State-of-the-Art Sessions on Closing the Gap Between
Materials and Corrosion Engineering and New Construction Projects
and Real-Time Corrosion Life Assessment and Corrosion Modeling.
TG 257 discussed developments
and plans for the Computerized Environmental Cracking Database,
which helps users select materials for oil and gas environments
based on chemical composition and testing results for that material.
TG 340, Offshore Coating
Condition Assessment for Maintenance Planning, discussed plans for
their new proposed standard.
Thanks to all for making Corrosion Technology Week 2007 such a success.
Please mark your calendars for next year's CTW 2008, September 14-18,
2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah. See you there! |
