Pipeline Corrosion Introductory Training (PCIT)
NACE Operator Qualification (OQ) Program

The Pipeline Corrosion Introductory Training program is a comprehensive, modularized beginner-level training and assessment program addressing both pipeline corrosion fundamentals and corrosion OQ covered tasks. The training program is geared for employees that have little or no experience in pipeline corrosion and need to be trained on basic tasks, i.e., corrosion covered OQ tasks. The program also addresses OQ requalification needs as DOT does not accept work history alone to satisfy OQ requalification requirements. Requalification requirements can be met by taking the knowledge assessment or through performance verification.

The PCIT program is a starting point that provides a path to further professional development through NACE training & certification programs.

PCIT program training and assessments are delivered online via the NACE Web site.

Training Objectives

The objectives of the NACE Corrosion Training Manual for OQ and Assessments are to:

(1) provide industry with "task-oriented" training curriculum that may be used to train employees who are assigned to specific corrosion-related tasks and who may or may not be spend 100% percent of their time on corrosion-related work.
(2) provide practical "how to" information with limited emphasis on corrosion theory.
(3) provide a program that can be delivered by in-house trainers who are not professional instructors.
(4) provide industry with a simplified training and assessment program that does not involve extensive employee training or time away from the office.
