DESCRIPTION
This is the first step in becoming a certified NACE Certified Coating Inspector - Level 3 individual. It is geared towards persons involved in the industrial coatings industry—inspectors, applicators, blasters, manufacturers, owners' representatives, specifiers, and technical salesmen or anyone else interested in gaining a solid understanding of the basics of corrosion as it relates to industrial coatings.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
With this level of certification, a person is qualified to undertake basic coating inspection of structural steel using nondestructive techniques and instrumentation under the supervision of a NACE Certified Coating Inspector-Level 3. The person certified at this level has basic knowledge of coating materials and techniques for surface preparation and application on steel substrates.

 

REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE CERTIFICATION
To achieve this level of certification, individuals have two options:

CLASSROOM TRAINING - CIP LEVEL 1
or
CD-ROM SET 1 with EXAM COURSE 1



UPDATE REQUIREMENTS
It is necessary to renew this certification every three (3) years. This may be accomplished one of two ways:

(1) By successfully completing Level 2 within three (3) years of completing Level 1—by using this option, the renewal fee is considered part your Level 2 registration fee.

(2) Pay the renewal fee prior to the expiration of this certification, which is three (3) years from the date you completed Level 1—by using this option your renewal fees will be as follows:
