DESCRIPTION
This level of certification is geared to individuals who have already completed CIP Level 1 and who are interested in continuing on to become a NACE Certified Coating Inspector - Level 3 Individual or who would like to increase their knowledge regarding inspection techniques and specialized application for both steel and non-steel substrates as well as surface preparation, coating types, inspection criteria, and failure modes for various coatings including specialized coatings and linings.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
With this level of certification, a person is qualified to perform advanced coating inspections using both nondestructive and destructive techniques and instrumentation. The person certified at this level has sufficient knowledge of specialized coating materials and techniques for the surface preparation and application used on a wide variety of substrates. He/she also has ample knowledge in advanced report writing, condition surveys, failure analysis, and refurbishment.
REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE RECOGNITION
To achieve this level of recognition, qualified individuals (those who have completed CIP Level 1) have two options:

CLASSROOM TRAINING - CIP LEVEL 2
or
CD-ROM SET 2 with EXAM COURSE 2
(available 2005)

UPDATE REQUIREMENTS
It is necessary to update this level of certification every three (3) years. This may be accomplished one of two ways:

(1) By successfully completing the Peer Review within three (3) years of completing Level 2—by using this option, the update fee is considered part your the Peer Review registration fee.

(2) Pay the update fee prior to the expiration of this recognition, which is three (3) years from the date you completed Level 2—by using this option your update fees will be as follows:
