Where can I find a list of NACE technical committees?

Or

I'm interested in pipelines, water treatment, etc. Do you have any committees that deal with that subject?

  • All NACE technical committees are listed on the NACE web site. Click here to see the list (including scope and officers) of NACE Specific Technology Groups (STGs), which are the main committees. Select a STG, and drill down to the links to each Task Group (TG) and Technology Exchange Group (TEG) administered by that STG. The title, assignment, and officers of each are listed there.

  • NACE members may join committees online and also may contact chairs and other committee members by going through the Members Only section. After logging in as a member, the member can click on Technical Committee Membership Directory and look up committee members' phone, fax, and e-mail contact information and their committee memberships. Members can also look up committee rosters.
What is the latest edition of MR0175?
  • The latest edition is NACE MR0175/ISO 15156. NACE Standard MR0175 merged with ISO 15156 in December 2003, and it supersedes all previous versions of MR0175. NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 is in three parts, and even though the cover of Part 1 shows a copyright date of 2001, Parts 2 and 3 were not completed until 2003, so the entire standard was finished in 2003. Part 1 is not an outdated version.
How do I get my material certified to NACE?
  • NACE does not provide certification for materials.
Is it all right for my company to require compliance with the 2002 version of MR0175? What do we need to put on the certificate?
  • NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 is the current version of this standard and the only one supported by NACE. All others are historical versions. NACE can't advise you on certificates or statements of compliance.
Can you give me the name of someone on a particular committee that I can call to ask a question about a standard?
  • We don't give out names of our technical committee members; however, if you are a NACE member, you can look up the contact information of any other member via the Members Only section. First you need to look up the listing of committees to get name of chair for committee you are interested in. We also have a procedure for getting a consensus response from a committee on a specific question pertaining to a standard. For those questions, contact Linda Goldberg at +1 281/228-6221 or e-mail , or Tom Aiken at +1 281-228-6208 or e-mail , or Daniela Malakoff at +1 281-228-6287 or e-mail .
I need to speak with someone who can give me advice on my water treatment system, tell me the best way to apply cathodic protection to my pipeline, or answer another technical question.
  • NACE Headquarters cannot provide technical advice; however, you can subscribe to one of the NACE list servers, the NACE Corrosion Network, and the NACE Coatings Network and post questions there. Many experienced subscribers will probably give you their opinion. It takes about 8 hours before you can post a question.
I have a certain opinion on cathodic protection, and my customer has a different opinion. What is NACE’s position on this? We need NACE's help in settling the dispute.
  • NACE does not get involved in disputes between companies. NACE does publish voluntary standards dealing with cathodic protection and other topics. A complete list of NACE Standards/Reports can be found in the NACE Online Store. Technical questions can be posted on either the NACE Corrosion Network or on the NACE Coatings Network.
