Chemical Treatment Specialist Certification

 

Advanced certification options for those with extensive experience in the corrosion industry

These certifications are geared toward individuals who are experienced, knowledgeable and capable of performing work at an advanced level in both the theory and practice of a particular area of corrosion and corrosion control or multiple areas of corrosion and corrosion control.

DESCRIPTION
This certification is geared toward individuals who are experienced, knowledgeable and capable of performing work at an advanced level in both the theory and practice of corrosion prevention and control, and who are capable of performing work at an advanced level in the chemical treatment field.

PREREQUISITES
Senior Corrosion Technologist
OR
Four years corrosion work experience in responsible charge
and one of the following:
Engineering-in-Training (EIT) registration or equivalent
Professional Engineer (PE or P. Eng.) or equivalent registration
Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences AND an advanced degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences that required a qualification examination.

REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE CERTIFICATION
Successful completion of the Chemical Treatment Specialist Exam. Application approval by the Application Review Board is required for certification.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
An application must be submitted prior to sitting for the exam to allow time for verification of information provided on application. The application must be approved by the Applications Review Board.

EXAM
This 2-hour examination consists of multiple choice and true/false questions. The multiple choice questions are of varying degrees in difficulty. Questions are of the same type and level of difficulty as those encountered on the Corrosion Specialist examination, except that they are limited to the chemical treatment area.

RECERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Every three (3) years. Recertification requires a minimum of 1.5 years work experience in chemical treatment and 20 hours per year (60 hrs total) of professional development hours.
