  • In a post-conference survey of attendees, members emphasized that they prefer technical committee meetings to be held only when they include pre-planned exchange of technical information, case studies, etc. Some committee meetings, though, are required in order to keep standards/reports/symposia moving toward timely development and publication.

In order to minimize meeting conflicts for conference attendees, carefully consider the amount of time that is really needed and please try to request a meeting only if one of these activities listed below apply. If you have other administrative issues to address in a technical meeting, please contact Linda Goldberg at NACE and she will work with you to help you accomplish your committee’s goals. NACE and TCC appreciate your understanding — we're just trying to streamline meetings so we do not need to add another day to conference, which most members prefer us not to do. Thank you!

    —Exchange of technical information/presentations
—Work on draft of a standard or report, or on a future symposium.
—Complete a required procedure on a working standard or report (review of ballot
results, reaffirmation vote; open review stage; handle negative votes, etc.)
    —Administrative committee work

  • The deadline for receipt of CORROSION/2009 meeting request forms is June 1, 2008. Forms can be accepted after this date, but it is likely that the meeting will not appear in the CORROSION/2009 Advance Program. It will be added to the web listing and the final program.

To schedule a meeting, fill out the CORROSION/2009 Meeting Request Form. Make sure to list what conflicts to avoid as well as any audio visual equipment you will need. If you requested a projector, make sure to identify what kind of projector (i.e. data projector, overhead projector).

CORROSION/2010 Forms:

  • CORROSION/2010 Symposium Request Form (PDF 103k) click here.
  • CORROSION/2010 Symposium Request Form (Microsoft Word®* 46 K) click here.

The deadline for receipt of CORROSION/2010 Symposium Request Forms is November 13, 2008. This deadline is based on the deadline for the January issue of Materials Performance in which the annual conference Call for Papers always appears.

Symposia must be sponsored by a NACE Technical Exchange Group (TEG) or Specific Technology Group (STG). In order to have your symposium considered for CORROSION/2010 the request must be received by this date. Staff will collect all requests for the Annual Conference Program Committee (ACPC). The ACPC will review requests in their entirety and determine the symposium schedule for 2010. Chairmen will be notified in December on the status of their request to host a symposium.

Make sure to completely fill in all information requested. Request forms cannot be accepted with incomplete information, or missing signatures.

    All forms require:

    • The signature of the sponsoring committee chair, the STG chair under which the symposium falls. To see the STG Chair listing click here.

The total amount of allowable programming time per symposium is 13 hours (6.5 hours per day) that equates to thirty-two (32) titles accepted. If the sponsoring committee or symposium chair plans to include a panel discussion, the total number of paper titles accepted will be fewer based on the amount of time requested for the panel discussion.

Please note: symposia that receive fewer than 8 abstracts by the close of the Call for Papers will have the option of converting to an informal technology exchange or postponement to the following conference year.

  • NACE is currently taking nominations for the CORROSION/2010 Plenary Lecture. Nominations should be received prior to January 16, 2009 for consideration. Nominations are presented to and will be voted on by the Annual Conference Program Committee (ACPC) during their CORROSION/2009 meeting. Please return all nomination forms to Cassie Davie, fax 281-228-6317
